Despite health restrictions curtailing the ability to hold events or meet face-to-face at certain points over the year, LJ Hooker offices have still managed to respond to the needs of their communities, raising $150,000 for charity in the last 12 months.

Facilitated by the LJ Hooker Foundation, the primary beneficiary of this hard work was the network’s charitable partner for 2021, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

Providing equipment to paediatric wards, neonatal units, maternity and emergency departments in hospitals across Australia, they now have 17 additional medical machines that will be placed in facilities in need.

Some of this equipment was funded during LJ Hooker’s Night of the Stars awards, held in-person in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia, where auctions raised over $30,000.

Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA), which has been a partner of the LJ Hooker network for over 28 years, also received assistance in the form of funding for the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Digital Conference and its Consumer Connect platform, which helped CF community members stay in touch through lockdowns.

And responding to the community needs brought on by the pandemic, the network established a new charitable connection with Lifeline Australia in September, aiming to assist Australians in getting the mental health support they need.

Sarah Dickson, LJ Hooker Foundation spokesperson, said after the two challenging years, the network had taken note of how the hotline had become an increasingly more critical resource for “those struggling during continued COVID lockdowns, isolation and business closures”.

Ms Dickson commended the work of the network’s offices around the country for dedicating their time and resources to these and many other charitable efforts.

“Whether that’s running local fundraising and donation drives for LJ Hooker Foundation to lending marques for community events, and everything in between, it’s about putting people at the centre of what they do and strengthening their ties in their community,” she said.

She added that the establishment of their Atlas group in February had also greatly enabled the foundation’s work, with contributing to philanthropic causes built into the brand’s structure.

“At our Atlas by LJ Hooker offices, a percentage of every sale made by an agent is contributed to the Atlas Community Fund, within LJ Hooker Foundation, which helps Atlas make a tangible difference to the communities it services,” Ms Dickson said.
