An inner western Melbourne independent agency, West Central Properties, hopes to explore new frontiers by joining the Raine & Horne network.

Vinh Tran, the independent agency’s principal, will now lead the Raine & Horne Braybrook office. This former marine engineer, who once served as the country director of oil giant Castrol has seen his locale evolve with almost two decades of service to his community in the real estate sector.

Randolph Clements, managing director of Raine & Horne Victoria, elaborated: “When Vinh started in the Braybrook market in 2003, the median house price was about $165,000. It’s now closer to $850,000 in keeping with its status as a sought-after inner Melbourne suburb, and his status as one of the region’s leading real estate agents.”

His caring attitude and desire to help his team’s professional development led him to Raine & Horne, years after initially turning down an invitation to join the network.

According to Mr Tran, when he felt it was the right time to make the change, he reconnected with Mr Clements and was impressed by the managing director’s recall of their conversation years back.

“Randolph had been following my business, really cared about us and would jump in and help me out when required,” said Mr Tran.

The former corporate executive said he decided to change the course of his independent agency to grow his business, which used to rely on old clients.

“My business depended very much on repeat business rather than referrals. We believe that joining a trusted brand such as Raine & Horne will allow me to meet new clients,” he said.

Mr Tran disclosed that his stint in the corporate sector opened his eyes to the importance of training for professional growth: “I am fully committed to training because of the excellent courses I undertook in my corporate roles with Castrol, including a finance and commercial program at Sydney’s Macquarie University.”

And because of this, he would like his agents to have the same opportunity, which, as an independent agency, would be a challenge to provide.

Mr Tran highlighted Raine & Horne’s capability to “offer lively and dynamic content that ensures staff is always fully engaged”. As an independent, he confessed: “we don’t have the deep pockets to be able to provide this level of training.”

Now that Mr Tran is on board the Raine & Horne network, he predicts a bountiful voyage with a lot of sales activity and capital growth in the Braybrook real estate sector for 2022.

Like any wise entrepreneur, he’s also aware of challenges along the way but has his eyes set on the goal: “The market will still need to do some recovering from the lockdowns in 2021, and all being well, I believe 2023 will be a very active year for our real estate market.”
