The Harcourts Foundation has achieved the milestone 14 years after its 2008 inception.
According to the foundation – the charitable arm of real estate network Harcourts – the figures translate into 1,078 charities supported, 356 communities impacted, and over 970 grants made through Harcourts offices located in several countries, including New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and the USA.
Harcourts executive director Mike Green expressed that they are “incredibly proud” to hit the milestone and honoured to have the opportunity to give back to the communities they live and work in, especially during the pandemic.
“The Harcourts Foundation is making a difference to those that need it most. It’s during times like a global pandemic where our world needs this kind of support more than ever,” he stated.
The organisation’s funds were sourced from Harcourts’ employee salary sacrifice, “off the top” contributions from sales commissions and organised fundraisers.
“Over the last 14 years, hundreds of offices and individuals from the Harcourts network have generously contributed to the Harcourts Foundation via direct donation or coordinating community fundraising events in their local area,” Mr Green stated.
Throughout the years, the foundation reported the funds raised went towards tackling key community issues, including early childhood education, homelessness, domestic violence, hospice care, and healthcare, amongst many others.
The foundation highlighted that there were no management fees, salaries or running costs subtracted from the raised funds due to the volunteer-run structure of the organisation, which sees Harcourts employees donate their time and expertise to oversee and administer the process. This means all funds went directly to grants, the foundation explained.
Mr Green noted that the foundation’s work over the years has helped to create a “history of giving” within Harcourt’s network. He added: “Being caring members of the local communities ensures a better quality of life for everyone. It is through the success of our businesses that we provide much-needed support to the communities we live and work in.”
Recently, the Harcourts Foundation announced its plan to rebrand to better reflect its relationship with Harcourts, which it states will demonstrate “the intrinsic link between its purpose of helping others achieve success”.
