Coast Realty’s recent acquisition of the iconic Pearl Beach Café and Grocery Store may seem like a strange move, but the organisation says it “absolutely made sense”.
Troy Rushton, the co-founder of the boutique independent real estate agency that specialises in prestige properties across NSW’s Central Coast suburbs of Pearl Beach and Patonga, explained the motivation behind the move to purchase the hospitality venue from its long-time owner, Kevin McCunn.
“Our principal, Stuart Gan has been servicing the area for well over 25 years. Naturally, our team has developed a good rapport and fantastic relationships with the local community. We are lucky enough to call many of them, including the café’s owner Kevin, our friends,” he explained.
“When this opportunity presented itself, it absolutely made sense to step in and help. We see this as a way to give back to the local community and plan to use it as an opportunity to better serve the needs of both locals and visitors to the area.”
The venture is seen to build upon the agency’s already established position within the Pearl Beach community through sales, rental, and holiday services.
Locals in the area have a positive reception of the business venture.
Russell Grove, president of the Pearl Beach Progress Association, explained that the acquisition would benefit everyone in the community.
“We are excited to welcome them even further into the community with their newly acquired venture and we look forward to seeing what they do with this wonderfully positioned venue,” Mr Grove said.
Mr McCunn also welcomed both the investment and the support that Coastal Realty’s team will bring to the table, professing that the business has been doing it tough for the last two years due to the pandemic.
“We are in such a wonderful spot in Pearl Beach, but we simply haven’t been able to maximise the venue’s full potential during such difficult times,” he said.
Mr McCunn, who will stay in a managerial position under the guidance and leadership of the Coast Realty team for a transitional period, further commented: “We are incredibly excited to have the Coast Realty team join us in making this place as magnificent as it truly deserves.”
In addition to keeping Mr McCunn on board, Coastal Realty is also employing local chefs to breathe new life into the cafe by overhauling its operations and service. They will also redesign the menu, which will focus on local and fresh produce.
“We feel a real sense of responsibility to help support this little slice of paradise in Pearl Beach. We want to ensure it remains as much of a special place for the locals, as it is for the guests that visit,” Mr Rushton stated.
