The independent Sydney real estate group has named a new chief operating officer to form what it claims to be a “unique duo” that reflects a new generation of leadership focusing on tech, creativity and innovation.

Will Gosse, who has served as BresicWhitney director and shareholder, will be taking on the executive role to oversee day-to-day operations and execute key leadership initiatives.

He will also be working hand in hand with the recently appointed chief executive Thomas McGlynn to create clear avenues for the organisation to progress strategically over the next five to 10 years.

Speaking on the appointment, Mr McGlynn said Mr Gosse possesses an “exceptional commercial acumen” that is rarely seen within the industry.

“Will holds a unique combination of experience that includes real estate, general management, finance and business management,” he stated.

“His proven ability to execute key strategies within the business over a number of years makes him the ideal person to help drive BresicWhitney’s growth into the future,” Mr McGlynn added.

The appointment comes as the independent agency is on track to hit $3 billion in sales this year. It also touts more than 3,000 properties under management.

With the agency eyeing future growth beyond its current inner-city bailiwick, Mr Gosse will be responsible for driving the business growth plans over the next five to 10 years, expanding BresicWhitney’s reach across Sydney’s 10-kilometre radius from the CBD.

Mr Gosse’s diverse background is also seen to help him streamline the transactional processes for clients to provide a high quality of service.

In the statement announcing Mr Gosse’s appointment as COO, BresicWhitney touted the partnership to be one of a kind within the industry, with no other leading real estate brand having two executives of the same generation at the helm.

Mr McGlynn explained that real estate businesses are operationally intensive and their success and growth are heavily dependent on the strength of their operational structures.

He further expounded that in order to create an environment where agents can provide clients with superior customer service, they must be supported by the right combination of hands-on support and the best systems available.

Under the new leadership, BresicWhitney stated it aims to be free from hyper-corporatised management styles and principal-led strategies.

“It is imperative that we have someone with a laser focus on maintaining and creating peak performance across our operations. Will’s appointment not only assists in executing key strategies but he will keep us ahead of the curve with technological advancements in our industry,” McGlynn said.

Speaking on the partnership, Mr Gosse described their skill sets as complementary, stating: “Thomas motivates and looks to future growth, while I analyse, problem solve and execute.”

The new COO also expressed his great enthusiasm in leading the charge in evolving the business from its well-founded footings into a new era.

BresicWhitney also acknowledged that the pandemic had a hand in the creation of the new leadership structure. The agency explained that the pandemic has accelerated technological change across the industry and forced businesses to adapt, which in turn led to the implementation of new technologies and better operational structures.

BresicWhitney further noted that staying ahead of the curve on the operational front will be essential in attracting the new wave of agents entering the industry.

Mr Gosse expressed his passion for alternative careers within the real estate industry, as well as attracting talent from industries outside of real estate. “I am interested in promoting alternate career paths within the property industry, you don’t have to be in sales or property management to have a great career in real estate,” the new COO stated.

“There is also a lot the industry can learn from people with different backgrounds. There will always be a need for leadership and independent thought in our industry.”
