First National has taken its 2022 National Convention to Bangkok, with over 350 of its principals and staff converging on the Thailand capital to discuss the big issues facing the real estate sector.
With the convention having been organised well in advance of border restrictions and lockdown measures easing, the network has received praise for its efforts to support the Thai economy, which was largely impacted by the lack of tourism seen throughout the pandemic.
A significant member of the 400-strong delegation that has flocked to Thailand for the convention is Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) president Hayden Groves, who said the convention marks a prime opportunity for the institute to ensure it hears the issues bugging the industry.
From his perspective, “it is great to hear what matters most to agents from every state and territory in Australia and New Zealand on national real estate issues”.
He also took the time to congratulate First National chief executive Ray Ellis and his team “on a fantastic event and leading the way to resuming international travel and events”.
As well as the convention enabling the network to unveil the winners of its National General Excellence and Marketing Awards, First National has also used the convention to support the work of the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), revealing a ฿125,000 ($5,144.23) donation from its charitable arm First National Foundation.
According to First National, the donation will aid the APCD in continuing to train people across a range of Thai provinces with the aim of helping them take on careers within disability-inclusive businesses. The trainees are provided with the skills for over 60 different projects ranging from baking and chocolate making right through to hotel services.
In addition to this training, the APCD also collaborates with Thai stakeholders such as the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP), as well as national disabled-people organisations, various government organisations at the local and national level and certain non-government organisations to develop disability service and inclusive development in Thailand through training.
APCD’s executive director Piroon Laismit expressed his gratitude to the network for bringing the convention to the country and supporting both the country’s economy and disabled population.
“We are incredibly grateful to First National Real Estate’s 350-plus delegates for coming to Thailand and for supporting the Thai economy, but especially for supporting the country’s disabled,” said Mr Laismit.
