After last week became the busiest week since the Easter long-weekend break, volume numbers are back down for the week ending 5 June.
The nation’s combined capital cities are set to host 2,713 auctions this week, down 15.9 per cent from the previous week’s 3,226 but up 1.7 per cent from the same week last year.
For the second week in a row, more auctions are scheduled to take place in Melbourne than in any other capital city nationwide. Down 16.2 per cent on the 1,478 homes under the hammer last week, the Victorian capital is expected to host 1,239 auctions this coming week.
Meanwhile, in Sydney, volume is back below the 1,000 home mark this week, with 978 homes on offer throughout the harbour city, representing an 11.8 per cent drop on the seven days prior and a 16 per cent decline on the same time last week. However, in a positive sign, the week ahead is projected to become the city’s second-busiest weekend since before the Easter break.
Auction activity throughout the rest of the capital cities is down 22.4 per cent from the week prior; however, when compared to the same period last year, it is up 17.4 per cent.
Adelaide will host 215 upcoming auctions, up 42.4 per cent from this time last year. Brisbane follows with 135, with the Queensland capital experiencing a 44.9 per cent decline from the previous week and an 11.2 per cent downturn from the same time in 2021.
In Canberra, activity is up 30.4 per cent from the 102 at the same stage last year, with 133 dwellings set to go under the hammer in the nation’s capital. In Perth, 12 auctions are planned, while Tasmania is expecting one this week.
