In a continuation of the brand’s growth, the group has administered licences for a record number of new principals over the 2022 calendar year.

Since 2008, the real estate brand has delivered 170 licences throughout Australasia, with the firm issuing 20 new licences so far in 2022.

The licences range from new additions in Victoria and NSW as well as across the Tasman in New Zealand. In addition to these 20 licensees, the brand has also confirmed that it has recruited a further 12 licensees in NSW and New Zealand that will officially be on board with the brand in the coming months, taking the total number of new One Agency licences administered for 2022 to 32.

Founder and chief executive of One Agency, Paul Davies, said that organic and sustainable expansion, which allows new members to build profit, is at the forefront of the brand’s recent business ventures.

“One of our big points of difference is that our members build profitable, sustainable businesses, so obviously we need to practise what we preach,” he said.

“Now that the market is cooling in many parts of Australia and New Zealand, a lot of principals are learning the hard way how important it is to keep your costs low and build a sustainable revenue stream. As people in the industry have heard me say many times before, it’s not what you make, it’s what you keep that counts.”

He has credited One Agency’s model of charging a licence fee, rather than taking a percentage of a business’ sales revenue, as driving the brand’s expansion.

“That means they [new members] get to keep a much larger share of their earnings, compared to the big franchise groups,” he said.

“When the market is slowing, like it is now, it makes it much easier for principals to run a sustainable business,” he professed.

“And when the market is booming, they don’t get punished for their higher sales numbers by being forced to pay higher commissions. Win-win either way.”
