A national real estate brand’s charitable arm has been recognised for its longstanding commitment to empowering people who are experiencing homelessness.

Dignity unveiled that it has named one of its guesthouses Raine & Horne Foundation House, in a show of appreciation of the network’s continued support of the charity’s crusade against homelessness.

The foundation’s namesake guesthouse is located in south-west Sydney and has 11 furnished, self-contained units, according to Dignity.

It is expected to offer over 4,000 nights of temporary accommodation per year to people who are experiencing homelessness, placing them in a “true home-like environment”. Additionally, the charity will provide a support worker onsite to assist their guests as they get their lives back on track.

Raine & Horne executive chairman Angus Raine described the unveiling of the Raine & Horne Foundation House as “incredibly humbling”.

“It is rewarding to see the tangible impact that the Raine & Horne Foundation has had on Dignity, following the launch of the partnership in July 2021,” Mr Raine said.

Dignity, a charity offering temporary accommodation and longer-term stable housing to people experiencing homelessness, was chosen as the network’s first non-profit partner when the Raine & Horne Foundation was launched last year.

Since then, the Raine & Horne Foundation has launched several major events in support of the charity.

One notable donation drive kicked off by the Raine & Horne Foundation for the charity was the “Take a walk in their socks” initiative launched in September 2021. At the end of the initiative, it saw 1,600 pairs of socks donated to Dignity, alongside $50,000 to help the daily operations of the service.

In March, Raine & Horne’s corporate team also contributed to Dignity’s corporate volunteering program by organising clothes and goods as the charity prepares for a surge in demand for services during the winter months.

The top network executive also reaffirmed Raine & Horne Foundation’s continued support of the charity as one of Dignity’s major sponsors.

With this new milestone in their partnership, chief executive and founder of Dignity Suzanne Hopman looked back to when they were chosen as the network’s first non-profit partner.

“When the Raine & Horne Foundation invited Dignity to be its inaugural charity partner, we were very grateful and excited to partner with a foundation that was committed to driving long-lasting change,” Ms Hopman said.

Since its inception, Dignity has provided more than 95,000 nights of supported temporary accommodation to people experiencing homelessness, as well as longer-term stable housing, food relief program and education programs aimed at combating the issue at its root.

“Thanks to Raine & Horne’s support, we have been able to rise to many of the challenges we have faced since the start of the pandemic,” she stated.

But she underlined that homelessness continues to be a challenge that an alarming number of people are facing today, and more firms can step up to the plate to combat the issue.

“Sadly, we are expecting homelessness to continue to rise, and corporate collaboration can make a huge difference,” she stated.
