The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) has congratulated an East Melbourne auctioneer for taking home its senior auctioneer of the year award 2022.
Luke Banitsiotis beat out tough competition at the senior auctioneering competition to claim his third title following successes in 2018 and 2019.
The competition pits Victoria’s top auctioneering talent against each other, allowing them to showcase their skills in a competitive and supporting environment with the winner provided the chance to represent the state at the annual Australasian Real Estate Institutes’ Auctioneering Championships.
Mr Banitsiotis commended the competition for helping him hone and develop his talent and style, which he claims greatly benefit the vendors he works with.
“Each time I enter, I always walk away a better auctioneer,” he said.
He detailed how both the fierce competition and the pressure that comes with being a previous winner drive him to compete at his best while also mentioning his delight at seeing his peers’ yearly improvements, which push him “to keep training and evolving”.
REIV president Richard Simpson said the competition is a big feat for all participants and finalists.
“Being able to witness these agents, who are at the top of their game, kick into action and really showcase their abilities is a great experience.
“It makes me proud to be in real estate, seeing how much passion these agents have for their profession, how hard they work for their clients, and how much respect they have for each other,” he added.
Mr Simpson said the institute looked forward to watching Mr Banitsiotis and runner-up Andy Reid compete at the Australasian Real Estate Institutes’ Auctioneering Championships.
With his victory, Mr Banitsiotis also has the privilege of calling the annual Good Friday Appeal Charity House Auction in 2023.
