An executive who has worked in upper-management roles across the country explains why he’s shaking things up with a career move to maintain his base on the Mornington Peninsula.

Colin Judd has been named the new operations manager at RT Edgar Peninsula, solidifying his connection to the lifestyle location he now calls home.

Moving on from the role of chief executive of Max Brown Real Estate after eight years of service, and previously from the LJ Hooker network where he oversaw operations teams servicing 600 franchises across Australia and New Zealand, the licenced agent and auctioneer is getting somewhat back to basics in this new role taking his broad experience to a local team to propel its growth.

Mr Judd started his real estate career handling Crown land for the Victorian government before moving into the private sector in 1989, gaining experience owning and managing real estate businesses in Victoria and Tasmania.

Moving onto the corporate side, he then served in state management roles for Victoria, Tasmania and NSW.

Now settled on the Mornington Peninsula, Mr Judd benefited from an introduction to the local RT Edgar team’s director Vicki Sayers, which made him consider once again working on a more community-focused level.

Soon after meeting, he said he and Ms Sayers had identified “some win-win benefits of working together”.

“Vicki is a proven leading industry performer who has created a dynamic small team specialising in sales and property management on the Mornington Peninsula. Vicki saw the need to have an operational business consultant to assist in her future success,” he explained.

For him, that will mean drilling down on some of the office processes to “enhance the careers of individuals within the business, identifying areas for growth and development, sustainability of market share, and profitability of the business”.

And the move seemed to serve both a personal and professional benefit for the real estate professional. Now based in the area, he’s looking forward to working close to home and getting granular with a small but dynamic team.

“I have lived on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula for many years now and am enjoying the opportunity to also work here being close and convenient to home. It is where I intend to retire,” Mr Judd said.

“My career has evolved to the point where I can offer and share the benefit of past successful business experiences and associations. The team at RT Edgar in Mount Eliza have an excellent culture and are collectively keen to take the business to the next level, so these things in combination seem to make sense for me at this stage of my career.”
