The group has announced Mike Green will resume the role he parted ways with three years ago.
Mr Green, who opted to semi-retire as managing director in 2019 after 20 years at the helm — pivoting his role to become the business’ executive director of operations — will return to his former role at the Harcourts Group from 1 September 2022 onwards.
At the time of his decision, Mr Green said he believed the time was right to “step back and take a little more time away from the business”, citing newfound duties as a grandparent.
However, his decision to now re-enter full-time work came after a realisation that his initial decision was poor, due to his inability to adapt to both the change in role and pace.
The brand cited its significant commitment being made to improve its operating technology, the subsequent rollouts of this technology as well as the current global environment as primary reasons behind the leadership changes.
Mr Green takes over from Steve Caradoc-Davies, the man who replaced him following his 2019 departure. Mr Caradoc-Davies will continue in his role as Harcourts International chief executive officer, with the aim of working alongside Mr Green to provide the support and resources for the corporate team as they continue to deliver their responsibilities.
Both men’s shared experience and energy will look to boost the brand’s commitment, focus and efficient leadership team as it progresses, with a statement from Harcourts explaining that it is “an exciting step forward” that will ensure the realisation of the Harcourts vision.
