With Canberra and Sydney buyers now swooping on the area, an established Southern Highlands group has announced it will be opening a satellite office in the more affordable region.

Raine & Horne Southern Highlands, led by Matthew Anstee, has collaborated with local agent Suzanne Carter to expand into the popular Southern Tablelands and offer clients more rural property options and price points.

It follows the explosion in popularity of the Southern Highlands since the onset of COVID-19, with people now paying $30,000 to $50,000 an acre for a rural property in the Southern Highlands when it costs more like $12,000 to $20,000 an acre in Braidwood, Bungendore, and the Southern Tablelands.

According to Mr Anstee: “Around Braidwood, you can buy a farm for $1.5 [million to] $2 million, whereas in the Southern Highlands, they start at $4 [million to] $5 million.

“This is a great opportunity for people from Sydney who want to keep their principal place of residence in the city but like the opportunity to escape to a hobby farm for weekends and other breaks.”

The new Raine & Horne Bungendore/Braidwood outpost, according to Mr Anstee, is an exciting chance for his company to offer a larger selection of rural property possibilities to its clientele.

“Raine & Horne Bungendore/Braidwood gives us even more horsepower to provide a diversity of stock by having four offices working in synch, along with a big team of agents and support staff offering a broader range of rural stock for our clients,” he said.

NSW network manager for Raine & Horne Group Travis Wentriro said that the new office in the Southern Tablelands is the perfect link between the brand’s offices in the Southern Highlands, South Coast, and its growing ACT network.

“Having grown up in a rural community, Suzanne is a great fit for Raine & Horne Bungendore/Braidwood. She knows Matt Anstee well and wanted to plug into his powerhouse business,” Mr Wentriro said.

Passionate about the local area and a mother of three, Ms Carter said: “It’s important being in a rural community that I’m aligned with a brand such as Raine & Horne that is proudly Australian, owned by a good Australian family and with a history dating back almost 140 years.”

“Raine & Horne Bungendore/Braidwood strategically meets a gap in the market that we have identified for rural property clients,” Mr Wentriro concluded.
