One of the longest-running locations under the national brand is set to “enter a new era” under the leadership of a familiar face.
Jason Chandler, who leads LJ Hooker Albany Creek | Warner, has acquired LJ Hooker’s Kallangur | Murrumba Downs’ office — marking his return to the location that was pivotal to his career.
“It’s an honour to purchase the business from my mentor and the person who gave me my start in the real estate business,” said Mr Chandler.
The Queensland-based business was launched by Greg Booker along with his wife, Maureen Booker, almost 47 years ago in the Moreton Bay region.
The husband-and-wife tandem has officially passed over the baton to Mr Chandler and his wife, Melinda Chandler, after they decided to retire.
While the Booker duo has stepped away from the business, they shared that it will continue to be family in some capacity, as the couple’s two sons will continue to work under the office.
Further providing insight on his longstanding ties with the business, Mr Chandler shared that he had two “strong mentors” to guide him across his near-three-decade career with LJ Hooker: Mr Booker and Steve Baudinette, the former principal of LJ Hooker Albany Creek.
“I’ve only ever had two principals spanning my 28-year career and have had the opportunity to purchase both businesses and continue to grow their legacies into the future.
“Greg and Steve were both great mentors, and there’s a lot of what they’ve taught me in terms of process and empowering staff that I’ve adopted in my own management style when I became a business owner,” he further explained.
Mr Chandler said that while the Albany Creek | Warner and Kallangur | Murrumba Downs agencies will continue to operate as separate businesses, the centralised business structure will provide opportunities for sellers to receive greater exposure over the two teams.
The changing of the business’ guards also comes at a time when Mr Chandler said the region was on the verge of a strong period of growth brought on by several infrastructure developments and institutional launches in the area.
This includes the opening of a University of the Sunshine Coast campus in the region, the Redcliffe Peninsula train line bringing the affordable area closer to employment hubs, and the region welcoming an NRL side in 2023.
“It’s a really important market to service, because it offers comparative affordability and rail infrastructure that will deliver a train every five minutes at peak hour when the Cross River Rail is completed.
“The university campus provides a jobs hub and demand for rentals. And the lifestyle of Moreton Bay is growing in profile, especially with flexible working opportunities,” he stated.
He also cited data from CoreLogic, which showed Kallangur recorded 31.3 per cent in median house price growth over the last 12 months to $600,000, while houses in Murrumba Downs houses recorded a 31 per cent for an average price of $745,450.
