Just a stone’s throw from Brisbane, the network has moved to open its ninth office in the Sunshine State.

Following 15 years of independent operation as Your Address Real Estate, owner-operators Darren and Leanne Gunn have opted to join the Stone network, becoming Stone Real Estate Logan West, located 30 kilometres south of Brisbane in the Logan suburb of Browns Plains.

Staff from the former office, including six property managers, five sales agents, and two administration staff members, will remain with the business during the transitional phase.

Mr Gunn outlined that the decision to switch to Stone came at a time when he and Ms Gunn “had been having discussions about the next five years, and where we wanted to be and where we wanted our business to be”.

He detailed that the brand’s business model and vision attracted the pair to the franchise despite loving “operating as an independent agency, which allowed us the freedom and the ability to make quick decisions and changes in reaction to market and industry changes”.

“It was not a quick decision for us,” he acknowledged, noting that the team at Stone were “like-minded people who had genuine interest in us, our business, and our people”.

Mr Gunn confirmed they were “excited about joining a brand that has the same ideals as we do”.

“We are looking forward to a strong future,” he said.

Stone Real Estate Queensland founding partner Scott Kelly said the arrival of Mr and Ms Gunn’s business under the network’s umbrella would benefit clients and agents alike, adding that “there are undoubtedly still significant growth opportunities in Logan and surrounds, and we’re looking forward to supporting Stone Logan West over the coming months and years”.

These sentiments were shared by Mr Gunn, who described how Logan West has “ridden the downturn well” with “buyers currently in the market are serious buyers and ready to purchase the right home”.

“Well-presented properties or properties that offer good value are still selling in excellent time frames. There are strong signs first home buyers and investors are still looking to purchase within our region,” he said.

Luke Cameron, Stone’s head of franchise, has also weighed in: “We’re proud to be able to welcome Darren and Leanne Gunn into the Stone family, as they bring with them a thriving business that’s been a pillar of the community for over a decade.

“It was clear from our earliest discussions they had a mindset that would fit perfectly with the Stone brand.”
