Network chief executive officer Leanne Pilkington, congratulated the network’s first-ever alumni from the course.

Launched in March with hopes of stifling the outflow of property managers from the industry, Laing+Simmons Investment Portfolio Training was designed “to add further value to customers, drive additional income for offices, and create more opportunities and additional career pathways for existing property managers and those interested in a career in the field”, according to Ms Pilkington.

The stand-alone qualification, completed through a 12-month course, retrains and upskills senior property managers with broader knowledge and expertise, ultimately elevating them to the new title of investment portfolio manager.

Ms Pilkington applauded the inaugural graduates — who were honoured at the brand’s “Tropical Christmas” event last week — not only for their achievement but also for their proactivity in advancing their careers within the network.

The Investment Portfolio Manager course is part of the network’s wider commitment to training and upskilling. Additional courses include its PM Fundamentals, PM Connection, and PM Conference courses, which range from education on core property management skills through to interpersonal learning.

Laing+Simmons explained the platform would be expanded in the new year.

Additionally, the network recently appointed Michael Anania to its corporate team as head of property management, tasked with leading the company’s provision of a full property management service to its offices.

He believes the investment portfolio manager course “is a critical part of our training and development regime because we believe it’s important to ensure all our team members are armed with the best knowledge and tools to effectively manage an investment property while providing guidance and advice to add value to clients in line with our core values”.

According to Mr Anania, the course’s success is emblematic of the network’s receptiveness to training, as well as “the value of bringing people together to learn and grow”.

He concluded Laing+Simmons “have built out an even more in-depth training for next year that encompasses all facets of property management”.

Recently, the network quantified its various training programs through the internationally recognised Net Promoter Score (NPS) metric, with Laing+Simmons identifying NPS scores above 50 as excellent and above 80 as “world-class”.

Through conducting three surveys, one each for team members in sales, property management, and network principals, it found NPS scores among sales members were 96, as opposed to 82.4 for network principals and 65.5 for property managers. The results ratified claims that the network’s training programs are a success.
