A Torrensville agency certainly knows how to keep its team balanced and connected.
Mark Sheppard took the majority of his Harcourts Sheppard team to Kangaroo Island recently, for the purpose of an “end-of-year debrief”.
With two dozen people in tow, staff participated in a number of activities over the two-night stay.
With the Harcourts values of “people first” and “fun and laughter” clearly on display, the first day’s agenda saw the staff discuss the year that was, undertake goal setting for 2023, and listen to guest speakers.
Then, on day two, it was time for Harcourts Sheppard’s Amazing Race Day.
Shayla Henry, the operations manager at Harcourts Sheppard, detailed the day’s proceedings: “We had several different challenges to complete, penalties applied if you did the wrong thing or advantages were applied if you won the challenge.”
Four teams competed to find coins in sandcastles, retrieve clues from the bay, taste wine, and even shuck oysters.
“Sounds easy for the people who enjoy them, but we had a few gagging!” Ms Henry shared.
They also had to “get a photo with Annie” — who turned out to be an alpaca, and try their hand at relocating 200 sheep from one paddock to another.
“Lastly, it was ‘Find the winery with the big deck’,” Ms Henry continued.
“Well, one group was so certain they knew the winery that they went to the wrong one, and this cost them first place position!”
But no matter who the winners were, it was noted that “a lot of fun was had by all”.
“At Harcourts Sheppard, we believe that promoting fun and laughter is integral to the overall success of our business,” Mr Sheppard shared.
She concluded: “We value our employees and all their hard work, and having fun and laughter as part of our core values helps to keep the team balanced and connected.”
