The surging tide of change has continued sweeping through Barry Plant with the network promoting an experienced executive to its top role.
Lisa Pennell has assumed the role of Barry Plant chief executive officer effective immediately. An extensive résumé brimming with industry experience and effective leadership skills, the network harbours no doubts about her capacity to lead the network into its next phase of growth.
Over a storied career in the real estate industry, which has seen her assume executive positions in some of Australia’s most prominent agencies, Barry Plant heralded its new chief executive officer (CEO) for her ability to drive operational excellence, establish and maintain high-performing teams and standards, and breed an environment conducive to excelling.
Ms Pennell, who arrived at the network last November as its chief operating officer, considers her promotion to be “the culmination of more than two decades experience in the real estate industry across a broad variety of remits”.
Sharing her expectations that her new role will provide her with an opportunity to effectively harness the plethora of professional skills she’s grown and harvested over her career, Ms Pennell explained “it also feels like a homecoming in so many different ways”.
She joins the network at a time of incredible growth. In the last three months, Barry Plant has bolstered its presence in Melbourne’s north-east, enhanced its capacity to navigate an increasingly technological wave, and appointed a marketing executive.
Barry Plant’s newest CEO affirms the network is “now officially in a transformation phase”.
At a time when real estate agents are “becoming less and less trusted by consumers”, she stressed the importance of sharing the Barry Plant story, which is littered with unheralded and important community work, in order to pierce this dubious climate.
Outgoing Barry Plant CEO, Mike McCarthy, who takes up a new role as executive director within the network, believes Ms Pennell’s traits are synonymous with the leadership position she assumes.
“Lisa’s wealth of industry knowledge and experience is invaluable to our group,” he insisted.
“Her values, collaborative approach, and ability to bring people together is a perfect fit for our culture,” Mr McCarthy added.
With the tides of the real estate industry constantly in a state of flux and with market resilience beginning to appear in the face of rising cost-of-living pressures and uncertainty around the Reserve Bank of Australia’s future cash rate movements, Ms Pennell expressed enthusiasm at the task ahead of her.
“We have exciting changes ahead and I take the responsibility of leading the group through this phase as both an honour and a challenge,” she concluded.
