Suzy Spilsbury has seen many changes in the industry over the past 30 years. Now, she brings change to her own business by realigning the independent agency with Professionals.
Based in Townsville, the North Queensland operator’s dedication to her clients has been so strong that she is now working with the children of her original clients.
According to the agent, her passion for real estate and investment began when she purchased her first property at the age of 18. Instead of pursuing a university education, Ms Spilsbury was drawn to the world of real estate and started working as a receptionist for a local real estate team.
Twelve months later, she took over the business at the young age of 19, launching a successful career that has spanned over three decades.
During her career, Ms Spilsbury expanded her business by adding a second agency, which grew to become one of the largest property management agencies in Townsville.
Ms Spilsbury takes pride in the long-term relationships she has built with her clients and is thrilled to see their children now entering the world of property investment.
“While it makes me feel old, it is satisfying knowing you have created such a valued relationship, and I love helping my clients create wealth through property,” she said.
Despite the retirement of many long-time agents in Townsville, Ms Spilsbury is still going strong and has recently made a significant change to her business. She has switched her independent Townsville agency to join Professionals and has also taken over Professionals in the Whitsundays.
According to the agency leader, this move presents an exciting new challenge for Ms Spilsbury and her team.
“There hasn’t been a Professionals office in Townsville for many years, but it seemed the right time for me to rebrand and continue providing sales and rental management,” Ms Spilsbury explained.
Despite the challenges of the past year, Ms Spilsbury said that the market in Townsville had remained strong and attractive to southern investors. The region benefits from rental demand due to the stable market created by the defence, mining and farming interests in the area.
She’s looking to capitalise on these opportunities as she moves forward with Professionals. And so far, she’s been pleased with the level of support.
“What was promised has certainly been delivered,” she said.
Professionals CEO, Katherine Gonzalez-Cork, warmly welcomed Ms Spilsbury and her team. She expressed her excitement at having the Professionals brand back in Townsville.
