One of Savills’ top execs in Australia is extending his reach to bolster the firm’s Western Australian interests.
Chris Paul will continue to serve as the national director of retail valuation and advisory for the global real estate brand’s Australian operations while taking on the role of managing director of Western Australia.
This continues Mr Paul’s long association with the advisory firm. He’s been with Savills Australia and New Zealand for 15 years, providing valuation and consultancy services to some of the company’s biggest retail clients in this region, such as Vicinity, Scentre Group, Dexus, Stockland, Lendlease, GPT and Charter Hall.
In his new role, Mr Paul will be responsible for expanding Savills’ Western Australian business.
With a strong background in shopping centre advisory, this comes at a time when the firm is bolstering its retail expertise in a number of Australian states, having closed a deal to acquire the Queensland-based retail property agency Site8 earlier this month.
On the event of his appointment to the new position, Mr Paul said it is a “privilege and an honour to be leading such a dedicated team of professionals like my colleagues in the Perth office”.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Savills senior leadership team as we work together to continue the growth of the Australia and New Zealand business,” Mr Paul concluded.
With this strategic move, the firm appears to be zeroing in on key markets that might buoy its Asia Pacific performance in the months ahead.
Overall, the British-based group reported a 2.5 per cent drop in revenue in the six months to 30 June 2023.
Commenting on the market conditions it has been weathering over the last year, the firm noted that the transaction volume of commercial properties in Asia Pacific fell by 30 per cent year-on-year in H1 2023. Singapore remained relatively resilient through the period, but in Hong Kong and Australia volumes have continued to be subdued.
