A boutique property group will raise funds for homelessness services in Vinnies’ inaugural art auction.

Real estate professionals have the privilege of helping families find safe and stable homes, but many Australians are not so lucky.

The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW will host an art auction, called “Art for Goodness Sake”, to raise vital funds for Australians experiencing homelessness an initiative Sydney’s BresicWhitney is proud to be part of.

One of the 27 corporate partners who have pledged their support for the auction, Will Gosse, BresicWhitney’s chief operating officer, said: “While we’re fortunate enough to care for many of Sydney’s most desirable homes, the reality for many around us, is that they find themselves at risk and in need.”

“The inaugural Art for Goodness Sake auction was an opportunity for us to combine our passion for art, while contributing to the lives of those doing it tough,” he shared.

As a corporate partner for Art for Goodness Sake, BresicWhitney has contributed, via purchase and donation, an artwork by established Sydney-based photographer Leila Jeffreys that will go up for auction as part of the initiative.

Head curator of the exhibition, art adviser Catherine Asquith, explained that the exhibition was inspired by the “long-standing tradition of corporates curating art collections for their offices”.

“We saw an opportunity to harness the legacy of these collections to create an inventory of artworks that could be auctioned off to raise vital funds for homelessness services,” she said.

The auction will showcase homegrown talent, with 26 works from contemporary Australian artists, including Graeme Drendel, Carbiene McDonald Tjangala, and the aforementioned Leila Jeffreys.

As Vinnies NSW CEO Yolanda Saiz emphasised: “This is a tangible way for corporations and art collectors to give back, with 100 per cent of proceeds from the auction being donated towards our homelessness programs.”

The exhibition will open in early November at The Bond, Woollahra, with the auction to take place on 8 November 2023.

“We’re humbled to be among a group of like-minded organisations across Australia, with shared values and an appreciation for the tangible difference these funds will make,” said Mr Gosse.
