End-of-year festivities aren’t getting in the way of the South Australian capital’s biggest auction week of the year.
While sales are traditionally slower in the lead-in to Christmas, CoreLogic has revealed that Adelaide is bucking the trend in 2023, expecting 199 homes to go under the hammer.
It’s an 8.2 per cent lift on last week’s 184 auctions that took place.
Volumes are also staying steady in Melbourne, where 1,412 homes are up for grabs – down just -0.2 per cent on last week’s figures.
Sydney and Brisbane are both expecting drops to last week’s numbers, which is unsurprising given the traditional Christmas shutdown is now less than two weeks away.
It marks the first time in eight weeks that Sydney will fall below the 1,000 mark, with 972 homes set to go under the hammer. That’s a -9.3 per cent drop week-on-week.
In Brisbane, a total of 193 auctions are pencilled in, a -10.2 per cent drop on last week’s numbers.
It’s the last week of auctions as usual across Australia’s capital cities, with all cities set to experience a marked reduction in auction activity from next week due to seasonal festivities.
CoreLogic is expecting just 550 auctions to take place across the country in the last week before Christmas.
The research firm then stated that auction reporting will pause over the festive period and will resume either late in January or early in February – dependent on auction volumes.
