In anticipation of the Western Sydney International Airport’s unveiling, a Sydney south-west principal has acted strategically.

LJ Hooker revealed that the Leppington branch under principal Michael Cavagnino has expanded its presence in the south-west growth corridor, with a new office situated in close proximity to the as-yet unopened Western Sydney International Airport.

The office, known as LJ Hooker Leppington | Austral, is located within the recently opened Leppington Village Shopping Centre, a decision influenced by the previous rezoning of the area that has resulted in the area becoming popular with young couples, families and investors due to the location’s economic and accessible nature.

“The new shopping centre is attracting more locals and in turn greater exposure for us. We wanted to be able to facilitate sales closer to the Austral, and this has picked up our profile to the north in areas such as Kemps Creek and Rossmore,” said Cavagnino.

Cavagnino, a long-time south-west local, discussed his astonishment at the changing marketscape of the area compared to when he started selling real estate 25 years ago. At that time, the area was almost exclusively targeted for hobby farms and lifestyle estates.

This past is a stark contrast from the present in which the areas of Austral and Leppington are experiencing a burst of economic and population based growth.

LJ Hooker has attributed this development to the 17,350 new homes and local amenities set to open following the rezone, with the rise in working from home also driving sales as families relocate from the inner city to more affordable suburbs in Sydney’s south-west.

“Leppington is set to become Sydney’s third city behind Parramatta we have roads, rail and air transport you can’t get better than that for a location,” Cavagnino stated.

General manager of network, Stephen Mutton, commended Cavagnino on the strategic decision to target these high-growth markets within Sydney’s south-west ahead of the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport in 2026.

“Michael is very passionate and dedicated to Sydney’s south-west it has been an area that he has served for many years and as the area expands he will now be able to service more clients,” Mutton stated.

“For LJ Hooker to have a shop front in a high traffic area in such a rapidly changing area puts the brand front of mind and ensures that we are available for consumers,” concluded Mutton.
