Sydney and Melbourne continue strong performance

Sydney and Melbourne have enjoyed another weekend of firm auction clearance results, suggesting the property market is still relatively buoyant.

In Sydney, 221 properties were sold for a clearance rate of 65.6 per cent, marginally ahead of last weekend’s 65.1 per cent.

A three bedroom house in Coogee was the most expensive property sold over the weekend, selling for $3.775 million; a three bedroom house in Wyoming was the least expensive property sold over the weekend for $244,100.

While the number of properties listed in Melbourne was down from the record 949 last week, the capital city still managed to achieve a fairly respectable result – with 120 properties sold for a clearance rate of 68.2 per cent.

In Adelaide and Brisbane, 18 and 21 properties were sold respectively.

Adelaide achieved a clearance result of 48.6 per cent, while Brisbane achieved a 50.0 per cent clearance rate.
