A Sunshine Coast team has climbed six mountain peaks in one day to raise funding for life-saving equipment needed by paediatric hospitals.

Reed & Co. Estate Agents of Noosa took up the challenge as part of a long-running commitment to support the Loyal Foundation and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, raising $77,592.92 through the day-long feat of strength and stamina.

This brings their total raised for the two organisations to a substantial $1,084,556.92, which has gone towards purchasing 87 pieces of paediatric medical equipment for local and regional hospitals.

The team kept this goal in mind during the endurance test, taking a 4:30am start and aching thighs in their stride as they traversed the peaks of Wild Horse Mountain in the Beerburrum State Forest, Mount Ngungun, Mount Ninderry and others.

It was on the last climb of the day – the steepest of them all – that team members were tasked with exhausting their last remaining effort to race to the top of Mount Cooroora, with the first male and female to make the summit crowned King and Queen. The titles were bestowed to Marat Roche and Roxanne Shahtahmasebi respectively, who crossed the finish line together in an impressive 31 minutes flat.

Some well-earned drinks at Pomona Distilling Co. capped off the day, with the team celebrating both their physical and fundraising accomplishments.

Reflecting on the substantial effort required to complete this challenge, Adrian Reed, founder and director of Reed & Co, commented on the perseverance he sees in his team.

“This incredible event demands the absolute best from its participants,” he commented.

Ultimately a fun team challenge despite the ensuing body aches, the agency noted that at the end of the day the camaraderie is just a bonus to their ultimate goal of supporting community hospitals’ needs.

“Why do we do it? Because it saves lives. If we don’t do it, nobody does it. If we don’t do it, the hospitals will go without.”

Reed noted that without the key sponsorship from Satori Advisory and Judo Bank, supporting partners, VitHit, Bounce Foods & TH7 Bodylabs Noosa, as well as the capable bus drivers from Good Shepherd Lutheran College who ferried the team around, they wouldn’t have been able to make the day a success.
