Raine & Horne’s Ayr outpost has experienced a change in ownership, with sales agent Carla Healy taking over from long-term principals Nora and Peter Andersen.

Throughout this transitory period, Raine & Horne reported that the Andersens will remain with the agency in order to support Healy in the initial stages of her new role.

Healy has been with the Ayr-based agency – then known as Andersen Real Estate – since 2015, when she first entered real estate after a successful retail career.

She expressed profuse gratitude to the Andersens for the mentorship and support they have offered throughout her real estate career, sharing “[I] wouldn’t be where I am without Nora and Peter”.

Nora Andersen’s 18-year long career within the Burdekin market was specially identified by the newfound owner as being a particularly influential source of guidance and knowledge.

“Advising me all the way with their experience and valuable knowledge and through this journey, my success is a true result of commitment in getting me to where I am today, ready to take over this most important role,” Healy stated.

Although future agency ownership was described as being off Healy’s radar during her first years in real estate, her eventual path to succession was relayed as having initially been set in motion by the Andersens themselves.

“I always saw myself owning or being involved in a business related to animals. Taking over at Raine & Horne Ayr wasn’t what was intended.”

“It was only when Nora and Peter raised the prospect in 2021 that I started seriously thinking about it. One day, it clicked, and I asked myself what was I doing? Real estate is what I love and think about day and night,” Healy expressed.

Commenting on the transition process, Healy praised the greater Raine & Horne corporate office team in Brisbane, notably identifying growth manager, Steve Worrad, and Queensland network manager, Kyle Pitman, as supporting her “every step of the way”.

“(Steve and Kyle) confidently left me at the helm as Nora and Peter have started to wind back over the last few years. This has allowed me to prove to myself that I could manage the business in their absence (and) this has been a great confidence boost as I take over the business,” she explained.

The Ayr agency’s change in ownership was also reported by Raine & Horne as coinciding with an influx of activity in the local Burdekin market, Healy citing the area’s affordability as attracting a wealth of “young families and downsizers”.

In addition to growing increasingly popular with owner-occupiers, the Burdekin region was also said to have generated interest among investors as well.

“We have investors from Victoria all the way over to Western Australia who realise there is so much the region offers to sustain the rental market,” said Healy.

Discussing her new role, Healy described herself as “excited” about the challenge of transitioning from a sales role to business ownership, citing the close-knit nature of the Ayr office’s team and the agency’s “strong brand name and influence in the Burdekin region” as making her choice to step up “easy”.

Looking towards the future, she expressed an intent for the agency to begin supporting animal-related charitable causes in addition to continuing Raine & Horne Ayr’s historical support of “Ayr golf clubs, up-and-coming golfers, other charities, sporting groups and community causes”.

“I intend to make the Raine & Horne brand proud and stand out from the rest, just as Peter and Nora have done,” Healy concluded.
