The community event, run in collaboration with a Harcourts agency, saw the network’s Tasmania CEO brave the 60-metre long Big Freeze Slide to raise funds for motor neurone disease (MND) research and initiatives.
Held on 10 June, the fundraising effort saw Harcourts Ulverstone & Penguin and the Ulverstone Football Club join together for the second edition of their Big Freeze Slide charity benefit.
Aiming to raise $10,000 to support essential funds for MND-related initiatives and research, the charity event held at the Ulverstone Waterslide saw participants ride down the 60-metre long slide before falling into a pool full of ice.
Among the participants was Harcourts Tasmania CEO, Tony Morrison, who endured the icy plunge to demonstrate “his commitment to the cause” and set an “inspiring example” for the greater Ulverstone community.
“Harcourts Ulverstone & Penguin’s partnership with the Ulverstone Football Club for the Big Freeze Slide #2 has been an incredible experience,” stated Morrison.
“Their collective efforts not only provide essential funds for MND but also bring our community closer together. We are grateful for everyone who participated and supported this worthwhile cause.”
With the event facilitated in cooperation with charity FightMND as part of their DIY Big Freeze initiative, Harcourts Ulverstone & Penguin alongside Ulverstone Football succeeded in raising $8,693 in total.
With individuals suffering from MND having an average life expectancy of only 27 months post-diagnosis with no cure yet found, Harcourts said the funds generated will “play a crucial role in supporting those affected by MND and advancing research efforts”.
Reflecting on the event, Harcourts Ulverstone & Penguin stated that they were “proud to stand together” with the Ulverstone Football Club, and look forward to “continuing their efforts in the future”.
“Harcourts is dedicated to providing exceptional service and support to clients. With a strong commitment to community involvement and philanthropy, Harcourts strives to make a positive impact in the areas we serve,” expressed Morrison.
“Whether you need a helping hand on your property journey towards your dream home, or are looking for volunteers to get on the Big Freeze Slide and raise funds to fight MND, we make it possible,” he concluded.
These fundraising efforts follow the launch of another Harcourts initiative looking to equip Fijian children living in orphanages with the equipment they need to attend school.
