The new appointee brings decades of experience across the private and public sectors to managing the national housing authority.

The board of Housing Australia has approved the appointment of Scott Langford as the new CEO of Housing Australia.

Langford was described as having a strong background in residential property development, management and investment, which he has gained over more than 20 years’ experience across both the private sector and community housing industry.

Langford is currently the group CEO of the Tier 1 community housing provider, SGCH (St George Community Housing), where he has managed more than 7,000 dwellings that have provided homes for 11,500 Australians.

Langford was previously the general manager of housing and urban development at Junction Australia, and the executive director of Habitat for Humanity Australia, where he led programs to support home ownership for lower income households, as reported by Housing Australia.

As the new CEO, the new appointee will work closely alongside Housing Australia’s board, team and stakeholders to continue the work set in motion by departing CEO Nathan Dal Bon.

Speaking on his new role, Langford stated that he is “honoured to have the opportunity to lead Housing Australia as it steps up its roles of supporting pathways to home ownership and to providing investment flows to increase the supply of social and affordable housing”.

“I look forward to partnering with the private sector, community housing providers and all levels of government to deliver on Housing Australia’s mandate so that more Australians have a place to call home,” said Langford.

Commenting on the appointment, Housing Australia chair Carol Austin welcomed Langford as the next CEO.

“He is a proven leader with the skills and experience necessary to take Housing Australia to the next stage of its development and to enable the organisation to play an even greater role in assisting vulnerable Australians to gain access to affordable, safe and secure housing,” concluded Austin.

She has also extended her thanks to the outgoing CEO Dal Bon.
