The new 800-square-metre space is being touted as setting “a new standard in the way real estate agencies work”.

According to Barry Plant Eastern Group, its new Whitehorse office in Mitcham has been designed to enhance staff engagement, productivity, and relations between agents and clients.

It’s also set up in such a way that it will be able to host functions and events for up to 150 people.

Managing director Spiro Drossos had one mission in mind when designing the office, which draws inspiration from San Francisco’s luxury hotels, and it was to create an intimate space that easily allowed for integration of people into small group communities.

“I wanted the office to be inspiring, but also feel almost like a relaxed entertaining space or living room where people can either have fun or opt for some privacy, listen to music, hang out with their coworkers, be productive and enjoy their working environment,” he shared.

According to Barry Plant Eastern Group, the open spaces and added greenery not only provide staff a technically state-of-the-art environment, but the features have also been curated “with their physical and mental health in mind”.

While Drossos acknowledged he always looks forward to going into the office for work, he said he “take[s] great pride watching other people become successful and enjoy their job and the environment they work in”.

The space, created by Icon Interiors and Zone Design, reportedly reflects “the outgoing yet elegant personality that is synonymous with the group”.

With a 25-seat boardroom and 150-seat training room, the new office is well-equipped to be used for training sessions, client information sessions, auctions and functions. Meeting rooms and padded soundproof booths also provide privacy when required.

A full breakfast bar also augments the space, with a state-of-the-art coffee machine and kitchen acting as a “central gathering place”.

From a client perspective, Drossos said he “wanted to create something where they are greeted in a very hospitable way, in an environment which is warm and welcoming, and filled with excellent biscotti”.

Since Barry Plant Eastern Group opened the doors to the new office, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Brendan Di Rago, director of property management at the group, revealed that “staff and clients are absolutely loving the new office”.

“The energy you get when you walk through the front door is very inspiring, and seeing people gathering in all the different spaces throughout is making a huge positive impact on the way we collaborate and motivate each other as a team or family as we like to be known.”

From his perspective, “it sets the new gold standard of working in this industry, that is for certain”.
