The community event from Harcourts Batemans Bay will bring together “local businesses and community members” to support a worthy cause.
Taking place on 30 August at the Catalina Club, Harcourts Batemans Bay’s second annual Charity Golf Day will see the agency host a golf tournament in support of Camp Quality’s mission to improve the “quality of life for children facing cancer”.
With Camp Quality having brought “positivity, fun and laughter” into the lives of children facing cancer for 40 years, Harcourts noted that the organisation’s mission resonates “deeply” with the event’s organisers and highlighted that “all funds raised will stay local to support these vital programs”.
The inspiration for the event stretches back to the time of the 2019 Black Summer bushfires, where Harcourts Batemans Bay contributed a percentage of their sales and rental commissions to Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) and the Surf Beach Rural Fire Brigade.
This commitment to supporting the local community was influential in motivating agency director Dene Lewthwaite – who himself endured the 2003 Canberra bushfires – to create an event that “not only raises funds but also strengthens community bonds”.
“We wanted to do something unique and impactful, something that no other real estate agency is doing,” said Lewthwaite.
The event has attracted significant support, with Harcourts NSW/ACT having contributed $1,250 to sponsor a hole on the golf course, Bendigo Bank providing a $2,000 prize for a hole-in-one, and a range of other corporate partners signing on as sponsors of the event.
Previous charitable partner of the agency, WIRES, will also be offering bacon and egg rolls for breakfast and holding a sausage sizzle at the event, with all proceeds directly benefiting the organisation’s wildlife preservation activities.
Notably, CEO of Harcourts NSW/ACT Katrina Tarrant and CEO of Camp Quality Deborah Thomas will be present on the day of the event.
“Our goal is to make this the largest charity golf day in the region, bringing business together in support of a great cause,” Lewthwaite concluded.
