For James Curtain, the co-owner of Place Woolloongabba and Place Annerley, choosing a network with which to align came down to a question of confidence.
Before stepping into real estate ownership with his business partner, Denis Najzar, in 2018, Curtain was a top-performing agent, with over $700 million in property sales to his name since 2005. When he sought a brand to support his move into agency leadership, it was important to Curtain that he found a network that would provide him with the support to achieve ambitious goals.
He was drawn to Place for its presence in the marketplace, its training offerings and the active role that its directors play in the running of the business. All together, that instilled in him a trust in firm that he describes as integral for guiding his decision.
“As an established agent ready for the next big step, it was clear that Place was the logical choice,” he said.
For Curtain, much of that came down to his confidence in the leadership.
“My trust in Place’s directors and the head office management team was crucial. Their skills, market knowledge, and experience were a significant factor in my decision making,” he explained.
Because the leadership is so involved in the running of its business and the various agencies under its banner, the head office team is attuned to the needs of its membership, and Curtain names the educational offerings as a key point of difference at Place.
“The quality of Place’s training and processes is consistently high. This has been instrumental in helping me grow and develop my team effectively,” he said.
He appreciated that Place HQ serves as a hub for its agencies and teams, and says that the brand has helped him offer a level of support that would be hard to achieve on an independent level.
“Place HQ offers comprehensive support across all critical areas - HR, marketing, technology, legal, contracts, and events. Their team is made up of high-quality professionals in each of these fields, providing invaluable resources and knowledge. This level of support gives me a real sense of comfort, knowing as business owners that we can access this expertise anytime. It would be incredibly difficult to secure the level of experience internally for an individual office,” Curtain explained.
Added to this the fact that he felt Place occupies a place of esteem in the local area, Curtain said that when it came down to choosing a brand, the deal was sealed.
“I’ve always connected with the Place brand and how it resonates with the Brisbane marketplace. As a business owner, I wanted to be part of a brand that aligns with the local market”.
For high performing agents that are interested in taking the next step into agency ownership, Curtain says that a conversation with the Place team is an absolute must.
“Being with Place allows you to continue as a top salesperson while also building a larger team around you. This not only leverages your performance but also helps you build equity in a growing business,” he said, noting that he has continued a high-performance sales career with the assistance of Place.
As he continues to grow his business, Curtain said his confidence remains strong that Place will move with the times and continue to provide the support he needs.
“What I love is that Place stays ahead of the game with true innovation. This forward-thinking approach highlights the management team’s vision and dedication, making Place an outstanding choice for opening an office,” he said.
