The new leader of the national housing authority has decades of expertise across the public and private housing sectors.
Scott Langford has officially commenced as the new CEO of Housing Australia, as of 23 September.
The executive brings a strong background in residential property development, management and investment, which he has gained over more than 20 years in both the private sector and community housing industry.
Langford’s selection as Housing Australia’s new CEO was first announced while he was the group CEO of the Tier 1 community housing provider, SGCH (St George Community Housing), where he managed more than 7,000 dwellings that have provided homes for 11,500 Australians.
He also brings experience as the general manager of housing and urban development at Junction Australia, and the executive director of Habitat for Humanity Australia, where he led programs to support home ownership for lower income households, as reported by Housing Australia.
As the new CEO, Langford was said to be joining Housing Australia “at an important time” following the federal government’s approval of the initial pipeline of Housing Australia Future Fund Facility projects which is expected to deliver more than 13,700 social and affordable houses.
Speaking on his new role, Langford said that he looks “forward to working with the board and team to evolve how we partner with industry and all levels of government to deliver outcomes that help more Australians access affordable, safe and secure housing”.
Housing Australia chair Carol Austin shared she was “excited to have Scott join us as we ramp up activity, together with partners, to enable more Australians to buy a home sooner and increase the supply of social and affordable housing”.
