More than 100 members from Coronis’ network hopped on an exercise bike for a week-long charity event, collectively pedalling nearly 1,900 kilometres to raise funds and awareness for mental health support.
The network has revealed that it raised over $16,700 for Beyond Blue through its participation in the 2024 Tour de Office workplace fundraising event.
Established in 2011, the Tour de Office event seeks to raise awareness around the physical and mental health risks office workers face. Organisations across Australia participate by setting up exercise bikes in their workplaces, and challenging workers to squeeze in at least 30 minutes of pedalling.
Participating in this year’s event, Coronis team members from all across south-east Queensland assembled at the network’s Lutwyche office over the course of a week to ride for a cause and generate funds and awareness for mental health awareness.
More than 100 Coronis team members participated and covered 1,873 kilometres by riding in 30-minute increments throughout their days, with some members notably travelling over two hours to take part in the event.
Coronis Group emphasised that mental wellbeing is becoming of increasing concern in the industry, with a 2021 study from Domain revealing that “65 per cent of real estate professionals had experienced problems with their mental health”.
The network also highlighted that the Victorian Coroner also classifies real estate as a “high risk” sector due to its elevated levels of mental health issues in the workforce.
For this reason, the Tour de Office is a part of a series of mental health support initiatives undertaken by Coronis, including close affiliation with the organisation Heart on my Sleeve and mental health expert, Mitch Wallis.
Speaking on Coronis’ recent participation in the Tour de Office, the group’s CEO, Karuna Mazzocchi said she was “so proud of our team’s efforts in supporting mental health”.
In addition to supporting Beyond Blue’s efforts, the network emphasised that Coronis Group will continue to create an environment where “it is ok to not be ok” and open conversations around wellbeing are encouraged.
