In addition to serving as principal partner of the NSW Waratahs Women, the real estate giant is also creating career pathways for players who have an interest in the business.

Knight Frank has extended its sponsorship of the NSW Waratahs Women for another three years, and expanded its support beyond the club’s senior and junior teams to also encompass the women’s sevens and women’s competition held in Sydney.

Having first inked a deal to serve as the principal partner for the NSW Waratahs Women’s rugby team at the start of 2022, this extension of the real estate firm’s support in both scope and duration shows its commitment to women’s sports.

In addition to serving as the team sponsor, Knight Frank also provides employment pathways for Waratahs Women’s players that are able to accommodate their training commitments.

For example Piper Duck, captain of the Waratahs and Australian Wallaroos player, has been one such player to take advantage of the opportunity, working in Knight Frank’s asset management services team in a part-time flexible role.

At the culmination of last season, the firm hosted an information session with the players to ensure they were aware of the opportunities on offer, should they choose to pursue work in the real estate field.

Knight Frank chief executive officer James Patterson said he was thrilled to extend the partnership, building on the relationship that had been established with the entire organisation.

He said that through various ways the firm supports the club, it was ultimately hoping to “make it financially easier for team members to continue doing what they love and are good at, while also gaining some skills and a pathway to a career that they could potentially move into post their rugby career”.

“The partnership aligns with Knight Frank’s passion for supporting sportspeople and career opportunities for women in property as we work towards gender equity in the workplace,” he added.

With Knight Frank’s red logo once again adorning the front position of the team’s jersey, he noted that the firm would benefit from “a great platform for brand awareness” through the relationship.

James Durbin, director of commercial and marketing for Rugby Australia, described the new deal as a testament to the momentum and interest in women’s rugby.

“This is a superb development for women’s rugby. The extension of the partnership by Knight Frank for the Waratahs and the new investment in the women’s competition in Sydney reaffirms the value of women’s rugby as a primary brand, particularly in the lead-up to the Rugby World Cup 2029 in Australia,” he said.

“Importantly, Knight Frank’s commitment provides women playing rugby a logical career pathway from the amateur to the professional level,” Durbin added.
