This is the third year that the Barry Plant office has put its weight behind the mental health charity.

Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit Victoria raised $24,930 for Beyond Blue at its third annual charity event, surpassing its previous fundraising efforts and bringing in a significant sum to help those facing mental health crises.

Held on 17 October 2024, at the Shadowfax Winery in Werribee South, the event gathered over 100 guests and raised the agency’s total contribution to Beyond Blue over the years to $55,500.

Agency director Reece Beckley expressed gratitude for the community’s support and highlighted the agency’s dedication to mental health initiatives.

“Last year, we raised over $18,500, and this year we aimed to make an even bigger impact,” Beckley said.

He noted that support of Beyond Blue is important to both the office and the network, aligning with its values of helping all individuals achieve their best mental health. Beyond Blue offers services such as a 24/7 call centre that provides immediate assistance to those in distress. Funds raised from events like this help sustain these services, allowing Beyond Blue to maintain its essential role in mental health support.

“We chose to back Beyond Blue because we’ve witnessed the profound effects of mental health challenges on local residents and small business owners, particularly in the aftermath of COVID-19 and other tough times,” Beckley said.

The event featured a range of insights from speakers and included a session by a Beyond Blue call centre representative who explained their extensive training and the operational costs of providing continuous mental health assistance.

Beckley noted that the event went beyond fundraising, creating a meaningful opportunity for local business owners, clients and Barry Plant staff to connect, learn and support one another.

“By supporting Beyond Blue, we’re helping to break down the stigma around mental health and provide much-needed resources to our community,” Beckley said.

With this year’s success, Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit is already preparing for next year’s charity event. The agency remains steadfast in its commitment to mental health advocacy, backed by the generosity of its clients, partners and community members.
