An agent in Melbourne’s outer north will have to answer for more than 60 alleged incidents of trust account abuse.
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) has reportedly filed criminal charges against an agent in Melbourne’s suburb of Greenvale, which is approximately 20 kilometres north of the city’s centre.
Licensed estate agent Daniela Vella, who hails from Essendon West, has been accused of misusing client trust accounts on numerous occasions dating from August to October 2020, during her time as principal of Harrison Parker Real Estate.
In CAV’s case against the agent, the watchdog alleges that Vella made more than 67 wrongful conversions of funds from the Harrison Parker Real Estate trust account, amounting to a total sum of $230,000 being withdrawn from the official business account. It’s claimed these withdrawals were for Vella’s own use.
Furthermore, CAV also believes that the agency failed to pay rental income, totalling about $36,000, to the residential property providers whose properties Vella managed, on seven separate occasions.
There are also six further instances of alleged trust account deficiencies that will be levelled against Vella when she faces court.
This matter is listed for a committal mention next year, in February 2025, at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
This case follows shortly on the heels of CAV’s action against several agents who failed to have their trust accounts audited.
