Auctioneers that want to learn how to successfully sell a property could take a few pages out of Jason Andrew’s book.
The auctioneer from Jason Andrew Auctioneers has competed in the Real Estate Institute of Queensland’s (REIQ) Auctioneer of the Year final for the past five years.
Mr Andrew won the Auctioneer of the Year 2009 title earlier this year and hopes to back it up again next year when the finals are held on 4 February 2010.
According to Mr Andrew, the key to selling a house is not to talk about its features but its lifestyle.
“Most auctioneers fall into the trap of just trying to sell a property’s features, but over the course of the marketing campaign, I believe the house’s features are already known to the interested parties,” Mr Andrew told Real Estate Business.
“Homebuyers don’t want to know about the size of the bath, they want to know whether or not this house will be a good choice for their lifestyle. I like to discuss the local facilities and try to get the potential buyers to picture themselves enjoying a coffee at the café down the road.”
Mr Andrew said passion and an element of drama will help any auctioneer make a sale.
