After 40 years in South Australia’s property sector, McGees marked the milestone by celebrating the dedication that fuelled its success while setting its sights on continued growth.
On 29 November, McGees Property Adelaide hosted a celebration to commemorate its 40th anniversary, with over 200 guests, including staff and their families, clients, industry participants and alumni gathering to mark the achievement.
Commenting on the anniversary, McGees partner James Juers shared his belief that “our calibre of people and our ethics have been central to our longevity”.
“The fact that we’ve not just survived but thrived over 40 years is incredible in itself,” Juers said.
The partner emphasised that the South Australian McGees’ team is “all about South Australia” and has leveraged its “intimate knowledge” of Adelaide and the broader state’s real estate market to serve clients over the last 40 years.
“We employ people in South Australia, we are locally owned and the partners work in this business and on the business, all based here. We’re proudly South Australian,” Juers said.
Juers highlighted that McGee’s commitment to its core values of “integrity, loyalty and relationships” has been key to retaining longstanding clients, including some who are “the sons and daughters of early McGees clients”.
But even with its longstanding legacy, Juers noted that McGees is “continuing to evolve” in Adelaide, and emphasised the brand’s growing prominence in South Australia’s commercial real estate market over the past five years.
Commenting that McGees initially “didn’t really have a focused presence in industrial”, Juers said the brand made it a priority to concentrate on the sector, eventually building a “solid industrial team” led by partner Andrew Wilson.
“Building out our industrial team has been a strategic priority as we continue to grow our capabilities across all market segments. Our aim is to offer a full spectrum of services that cater to our clients’ diverse needs,” Juers said.
To further bolster the company’s commercial presence, McGees noted that it recently recruited Marco Onorato from a multinational company to serve as a senior sales and leasing executive, industrial logistics.
Similarly, the brand also recruited Dallas Sears from a multinational company as the director of large format retail, highlighting that her insights into South Australia’s retail sector will support the company’s expansion into the large format retail space.
These acquisitions are representative of the ongoing growth of the brand, with McGees managing partner, Simon Lambert, highlighting that “we’ve built a strong culture which has helped us to retain many key staff throughout the years”.
“In the past we were a fantastic training ground for young values and agents, who were more often than not then grabbed by the globals. People are now looking to come to McGees. People are knocking on our door, wanting to work here,” Lambert said.
