A new business model that hopes to deliver higher commissions, passive income opportunities, and the chance to build their own businesses has been launched this week.
A team of Australian agency executives has launched Company RE, a new agency model that hopes to “disrupt the industry”.
Co-founded by industry veteran Bruce Cook, and managing director and director of brand and innovation, Talei Watene, its philosophy centres on generosity and opportunity.
According to a recent release from Company RE, the model will enable agents to earn as business owners by building a sales team without geographical restrictions.
Alongside Cook and Watene the leadership team includes chief executive officer Marcus Buskey, a seasoned professional with four decades of experience at Oliver Hume Real Estate Group and Colliers International.
The pair bring a wealth of experience, with Cook’s five decades of real estate and investment sales experience across Australia and New Zealand, and Watene’s background in fashion, architecture and interior design.
Cook explained the driving force that motivated the team to develop the model.
“The real measure of an agent’s wealth is how much they’d be worth after their last sale,” Cook said.
“We wanted to create a business model that truly rewards agents for their contributions, helping them build not just a career, but financial security for the future.”
Buskey commended the innovative approach, highlighting that although Company RE is a new brand and model in the market, the experienced professionals in the team aim to transform the conventional real estate model by promoting a culture of collaboration and entrepreneurship among its agents.
“When I first met the team at Company RE, my aim was to scrutinise their model and find the weaknesses. What I found instead was a business that is truly innovative, transparent, and transformative for agents, salespeople and principals,” Buskey said.
Since its launch, Company RE has already attracted 20 foundation agents, including David Bonifant, co-founder of The Professionals real estate group, and award-winning architect Michael Witty, who joined as a special envoy.
Former Ray White sales and franchise owner Gregg Dove is also a part of the expanding team.
Watene emphasised the importance of aligning with modern values, as buyers and sellers expect a brand to reflect their values and lifestyle.
“At Company RE, we aim to reflect their aspirations through a modern, fashion-forward expression that sets us apart,” she said.
“This is a company that empowers agents to think like entrepreneurs, providing the tools and resources to build something extraordinary.
“It’s about enabling them to build businesses that they truly own and create a pathway to financial freedom.”
