Led by 18-year Barry Plant veteran and head of growth, Mark Lynch, each member of the new line-up specialises in different aspects of real estate growth.
Melbourne-based real estate and property management network Barry Plant has unveiled its new growth team, tailored to meet the group’s strategic transformation goals.
Led by 18-year Barry Plant veteran and head of growth Mark Lynch, it has expanded to include the new franchise development manager Ben Burling and franchise systems manager Brit Voglis.
It will also be supported by training and franchise support coordinator, Sharlene Epifano, who will streamline franchise support functions within the head office.
The new-look team follows the network’s 2024 overhaul and upskilling of its growth team.
The network began in 1979, and is now located across 66 locations.
Lynch explained the rationale behind the growth phase: “We’re not former real estate agents stepping back from sales; we’re specialists in business growth.”
“I bring 20 years of franchise development experience, Ben brings 15 years of real estate business development expertise, and Brit combines five years of industry experience with a deep knowledge of property technology.
“What excites me most about the new-look team is having a dedicated franchise systems manager. It’s a massive advantage for the network and a critical step in the team’s evolution.”
The network explained that the team’s primary objective for the following year is to support each office’s pathway for growth, including improving technology and processes, and developing a culture of accountability.
Engaging each of the offices is expected to be a priority for the team, frequently visiting each of the offices to deepen their understanding of the business, prioritising human-to-human connections.
“We are careful to ensure that offices expand both where it makes sense and with the right people. We want to grow through recruiting good-quality people and developing our existing good-quality people into exceptional businesspeople,” explained Lynch.
Key to their recruitment process will be assessing whether the individual’s values fit the network.
“You can turn good people into good real estate agents, but not the other way around. When we’re recruiting people, we aren’t strictly assessing sales records to determine if they are a fit for Barry Plant,” he said.
“What we are much more focused on assessing is their values and desire to succeed with purpose, ensuring that the people we bring in suit the network, the brand, and whether we are in a position to help them achieve their goals.”
Lynch began his real estate career working as an estate agent for eight years within the Boroondara and Stonnington markets, before opening his own real estate business in North Melbourne.
His current passions include mentoring, development, recruitment and auction training.
Barry Plant chief executive officer, Lisa Pennell, applauded the direction of the growth team.
“With the growth team restructured and under Mark’s leadership, we’re in the perfect position to make 2025 a landmark year for growth and recruitment for Barry Plant,” she said.
“The focus is on expanding our network and team in a deliberate, sustainable way – through thoughtful, strategic moves. We are looking for more good, high-performing humans to choose Barry Plant in 2025.”
