Colliers has unveiled an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Ethos Urban, an Australian urban planning and design advisory firm.
The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be finalised in the first half of 2025.
The firm will be rebranded as Colliers in the latter half of the year.
The acquisition strengthens Colliers’ urban design and strategic advisory capabilities, reinforcing its position in the Australian real estate and infrastructure sectors.
John Kenny, chief executive officer of Colliers Asia Pacific, spoke highly of Ethos Urban and the opportunity to collaborate with the company.
“Their talented professionals provide a highly valued service that has accelerated Australia’s urbanisation and development over many years,” said Kenny.
“We are excited to welcome them as partners and work collaboratively to expand their operations in existing and new markets.”
“Its entrepreneurial culture and significant ongoing ownership in the business makes it a perfect fit for Colliers,” he added, commenting on Ethos Urban’s strengths.
Chris McLernon, chief executive officer of Colliers’ real estate services, noted that Colliers has made several strategic acquisitions in the region, and its latest move is expected to leverage its brand and market connections.
“We see tremendous potential with this partnership and expect to leverage our brand, established reputation, and deep connections in the Australian real estate and infrastructure market to grow the business and cross-sell services to our combined client base,” McLernon said.
Ethos Urban’s senior leadership team will retain a significant ownership stake under Colliers’ partnership model, ensuring continuity and alignment of vision.
Mark Stefanac, chief executive officer of Ethos Urban, highlighted that the merger with Colliers was a natural transition for the firm.
“This partnership enables us to further capitalise on Australia’s urbanisation while providing our professionals with the resources, opportunities and relationships they need to continue to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients nationwide,” he said.
