Ray White Sutherland Shire has appointed auctioneer and performance coach, David McMahon, as its new head of performance and chief auctioneer.

The move marks McMahon’s return to Sydney after four years in Queensland, where he worked with top businesses and conducted over 1,000 auctions in various markets.

McMahon’s real estate career began in South Sydney before joining Ray White Corporate in Queensland, where he collaborated with agencies and helped drive auction success.

His latest position was head of performance and chief auctioneer at Ray White Burleigh Group on the Gold Coast.

In his new role, McMahon will focus on strengthening auction performance, mentoring agents, and implementing growth strategies to support the business.

He emphasised the importance of tailored approaches in real estate, stating that each agent has unique goals and that his role will be to provide clear pathways for success.

“The past few years have reinforced that real estate is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ industry – every agent has unique goals,” McMahon said.

“My ambition is to help create clear pathways for our agents to achieve their ambitions while also providing a platform for new agents to thrive.”

McMahon shared that his return to Sydney was also motivated by his growing family unit.

“The birth of our son Max last year was our motivation to come home, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given this opportunity by Matt Debreczeni and Gavin Ottaway to join their dynamic and growing business,” he said.

McMahon said that Debreczeni and Ottaway have developed an exceptional business over the past 20 years and have gained significant respect within the Ray White network.

Ray White Sutherland Shire principal Matt Debreczeni welcomed McMahon’s appointment, highlighting his experience and leadership as key assets for the business.

“His experience, leadership and deep commitment to auction excellence will be a game changer as we continue to grow,” Debreczeni said.

“Dave’s return marks an exciting new chapter for our business, and we are confident his expertise will deliver exceptional results for both our team and our clients.”
