The auction house has appointed its first-ever general manager, who will lead its ambitious growth plans for 2025.
Apollo Auctions has announced that Greg Brydon will step into the general manager role in early April.
Apollo Auctions founder and director, Justin Nickerson, said the company’s recent growth had necessitated the creation of a dedicated leadership role that could provide internal support and help drive further expansion.
“It was vital that the position was filled by someone who had experience as an auctioneer but also across the wider real estate industry, including sales, which meant that Greg – an Apollo auctioneer – was the perfect fit for the role,” Nickerson said.
Prior to joining Apollo Auctions in 2023, Brydon worked across a variety of roles in the property sector and accrued a diverse range of industry insights.
“My path into the industry started at a relatively young age and has involved roles in all facets of the industry from administration to property management, to office management, auctions, and property sales,” Brydon said.
Nickerson said Brydon’s passion for property and comprehensive background in the real estate industry made him an ideal fit for Apollo Auction’s first-ever general manager position.
“I’m confident that Greg’s pedigree, as well as natural leadership qualities, will benefit not only our auctioneers but also our sales agent clients across Australasia,” Nickerson said.
Brydon said he was “extremely privileged” to accept the position and work alongside Nickerson in his new role.
“To now have Justin as both a mentor and a leader who is putting his trust in me to lead his business through its next phase of growth is just incredible,” he added.
In his new role, Brydon aims to expand Apollo Auctions beyond its current team of 35 auctioneers across Australia and New Zealand, and bolster auction and training spaces.
“Our big hairy, audacious goal is for our team to be calling 10,000 auctions in the 2026 calendar year, as well as increasing our number of auctioneers to 50 across Australia and New Zealand,” Brydon said.
He also shared his intention to enhance Apollo Auctions’ operations over the next 12 to 18 months by increasing services for auctioneer contractors and sales agent clients.
“We want to be the identity of auctions across Australasia,” Brydon concluded.
