The team at Harcourts Hillside will be lacing up their running shoes this weekend to participate in a charity walk and raise vital funds for melanoma research.
On Sunday, 23 March 2025, the team at Harcourts Hillside will participate in the Melanoma March at Sydney’s Rodd Park.
This charity event will see the Hillside team completing a 4-kilometre walk to raise awareness and funds to support the research work of the non-profit organisation, Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA).
Office manager and sales executive at Harcourts Hillside, Loren Khamu, said that the event holds deep significance to the Sydney agency, whose franchise owner recently lost his daughter to melanoma.
“The Melanoma March is deeply personal for our team, as one of our franchise owners, Costa Koulendianos, recently lost his daughter, Demi, to melanoma at 29 years old. She leaves behind her husband and a five-month-old baby boy,” Khamu explained.
For the first time, the Harcourts Hillside office will participate in the Melanoma March, with all funds raised going directly to the MIA, which the Harcourts Hillside team has proudly stood in full support of.
The funds will help the MIA work towards its goal of achieving zero deaths from melanoma, which the organisation believes is possible this decade.
Currently, melanoma is the most common cancer affecting Australians aged 20 to 39, with an estimated 1,300 Australians expected to die from melanoma this year.
Katrina Tarrant, CEO of Harcourts NSW and ACT, strongly supports the event and will march alongside the Hillside team to honour Demi and raise vital funds for melanoma research.
“Demi’s passing was absolutely heartbreaking, and her story is a tragic reminder of the devastating toll melanoma takes on young Australians,” Tarrant said.
“On Sunday, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes alongside our Harcourts Hillside team to support this incredible cause.”
“We march in honour of Demi and in hope of a future where no family has to endure this kind of loss,” she concluded.
