A real estate consultancy firm has announced its partnership with the Childhood Dementia Initiative to raise awareness and funds for the critical early childhood disease.

With three babies born a week in Australia with conditions leading to childhood dementia, REGROWTH Consultancy has committed to raising awareness and funds through a partnership with the Childhood Dementia Initiative.

Launched in 2020, the Childhood Dementia Initiative is a national organisation dedicated to accelerating the development of treatments and improving the accessibility and quality of care for children with dementia and their families.

The partnership followed REGROWTH Consultancy’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, which selected the early dementia initiative unanimously at a recent meeting.

The consultancy firm that usually supports real estate professionals with tools and coaching to develop industry leaders and identify competency gaps will now contribute to research on terminal illnesses resulting from over 100 genetic conditions.

Childhood Dementia said that although dementia in young children has been affecting a similar number of kids diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, it remains a largely unrecognised condition.

Further research indicated that half of the children diagnosed with childhood dementia do not survive past age 10, and 71 per cent pass away before reaching adulthood.

REGROWTH said the partnership aligns the organisations, as they were both founded five years ago and allowed the consultancy business to leverage its expertise and network for advocacy and fundraising efforts.

The collaboration stemmed from REGROWTH’s director and founder, Kylie Walsh, after she heard a Childhood Dementia Initiative representative speak at the Elders Lifestyle Group’s annual conference.

Recognising an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, Walsh saw how property professionals could rally behind the cause to drive research and support for affected families.

Co-director Lauren Kirk stated that the upcoming Navigate 2023 event, happening on March 27–28 at Commonwealth Bank’s Yana BUDJARI Auditorium, will serve as a platform to amplify the initiative’s message.

The event will host representatives from the Childhood Dementia Initiative team who will raise awareness of childhood dementia and promote sustainable global health solutions.

REGROWTH said it will also integrate the initiative into its industry events, conferences, and training sessions throughout the year.

The firm said that raising awareness will help secure continuous research support and ensure equitable access to care for children with dementia and their families.

Childhood Dementia Initiative’s partnerships fundraising manager, Deanne Bennett, said the not-for-profit organisation is thankful for the firm’s support.

“We are so grateful for REGROWTH Consultancy’s leadership and generosity,” she said.

“This partnership will have immediate and lasting impacts on children with dementia.”
