The Housing Industry Association (HIA) Western Australia branch has unveiled its new leadership team following its Annual Regional Meeting of Members (ARMM) held on 20 March 2025.
Tony Ricciardello has been re-elected as the HIA Western Australia president, while Alicia Kelly has been elected as vice president.
Ricciardello, now serving his second term as president, has been the managing director of Weststyle, a family-owned business specialising in luxury custom home designs for nearly 40 years.
With over 30 years of experience as a registered builder and more than 15 years as an active member of the HIA committee, Ricciardello said he is committed to addressing ongoing challenges within the industry.
“The building industry has been challenged over the last three to four years, and I have felt and seen the pressure that our members and stakeholders have had to endure,” he said.
“As we head into 2025, many challenges from the past still linger and will likely shape our path for some time.
“I look forward to working alongside Michael McGowan, executive director WA; Alicia Kelly, vice president HIA WA; and the HIA team, continuing to advocate for what is best for our industry so that we achieve continued sustainable growth.”
Kelly, elected as HIA Western Australia’s vice president during the ARMM, is the joint general manager and company secretary at JWH Group, one of Western Australia’s largest residential building groups.
In 2024, she was named HIA’s Building Woman of the Year.
Kelly has been the chair of HIA Western Australia’s industrial relations and legal committee (IR&L) for the last six years, and is a part of the HIA’s regional executive committee for Western Australia.
Having grown up in the construction sector, Kelly said she was committed to the industry’s growth and long-term success.
“I’ve grown up around the industry and am extremely passionate about ensuring it continues to grow and thrive for many years to come after some extremely challenging years,” she said.
“I am looking forward to representing members and the industry’s interests moving forward.”
HIA also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing vice president Catherine Evans for her efforts over the past two years, and her continued involvement on the regional executive committee.
Additionally, HIA Western Australia acknowledged long-serving HIA member, Alwyn Even, for his 30-plus years of service on the regional executive committee as national director.
He will officially retire from the board in May 2025.
