Savills Australia and New Zealand has strengthened its Victorian industrial team with the appointment of three key operatives.

The new appointments come as the south-east remains Melbourne’s most established core industrial market, attracting institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals, and opportunities for partnerships.

The appointments include Tim Homes and Adrian Garvey, who will join together as directors of Savills Victorian industrial team.

Leading the Victorian industrial team, Homes brings over 30 years of expertise in commercial and industrial property leasing, sales and asset management, having worked across Australia, Jersey, and London.

Savills Australia and New Zealand said Homes’ expertise in business development and industry networking will be pivotal in driving the team’s sales and leasing efforts in the region.

In his new role, Homes will draw on his previous agency roles at Colliers, CBRE, and Crabtrees, where he worked with institutional clients, developers, and high-net-worth investors.

Homes expressed enthusiasm about his new role at Savills, citing it as an opportunity to enhance the company’s industrial services in Melbourne’s south-east.

“I saw a huge opportunity to join the Savills team and strengthen the existing industrial offering with this south-east specialty. It was a great opportunity to join the industrial team, backed by the global Savills brand,” Homes said.

“The south-east market has traditionally been tightly held but we are now starting to see some movement with new opportunities emerging as more stock comes on line in response to changing market dynamics.”

Garvey will join Homes in the director role and transfer his 18 years of expertise in the Melbourne real estate market into Savills’ Victorian industrial team.

Garvey has a strong background in industrial sales and leasing transactions, market analysis and client relations, previously serving as a director at Knight Frank and Nichols Crowder.

Matthew Duncan will also take on the role of executive of industrial and logistics, adding extensive industry experience to the firm’s strategic operations in the Victoria industrial sector.

Duncan, previously in a sales and leasing executive role at Nichols Crowder, will apply his skills to deliver tailored strategies and optimal outcomes for clients.

Matt Ellis, state director of Victoria industrial at Savills, noted the importance of these appointments as the Victoria market continues to grow in appeal for institutional investors and major private owners.

“The expansion of our team reflects the strong demand for industrial property expertise in this key region,” he said.

“Tim, Adrian, and Matthew bring deep industry knowledge and outstanding client engagement skills that will serve to strengthen our service offering and enhance our ability to meet the needs of this ever-expanding market,” he said.

Ellis also said the south-east Melbourne industrial market has evolved from its pre-war manufacturing roots into a logistics and warehousing hub that offers access to a growing skilled labour force.

“Savills sees a prime opportunity for recycling brownfield sites as the south-east continues to draw the attention of institutional capital and we expect increased transactional activity in the short to medium term,” he said.

“Most of our new team have operated in south-east Melbourne for some time and were drawn to the opportunity to form a specialised unit at Savills and complement the existing team working on the north-west market”.

The new hires will support an already established team, which includes directors Lynton Williams and Colin Taralamis, alongside executive Charlie Hodge, who collectively bring 21 years of experience at Savills.
