In an attempt to service the rapidly growing St George region in South Sydney, McGrath Estate Agents has opened another branch in the beach side suburb Brighton-Le-Sands.
Chief executive officer John McGrath said the area’s proximity to the airport and Sydney CBD along with lifestyle attractions such as cafes and beaches, underpinned its appeal to buyers.
“The fundamentals that buyers typically look for in making a sound property purchase – whether for their own home or as an investment – are readily found within this region,” Mr McGrath said.
“Median prices for houses and apartments represent good opportunities for buyers although our existing St George office has recorded some extraordinary sales results in surrounding suburbs.”
According to Mr McGrath, the median unit price for the Rockdale Local Government area was $441,000 and $730,000 for houses, as at June 2010.
New office principal Matthew King said further property growth is expected.
“We have already seen Wolli Creek take off with intense residential development around Arncliffe,” said Mr King.
“It’s only a few moments from Newtown and the city, making it very appealing for younger buyers and it has a major train station on the door step.”
“The more established areas, with their many fine examples of Federation and Californian bungalows on large blocks of land, are a magnet to families who are priced out of the east and inner west.”
