Harcourts has moved to tap into home buyer preference for online property searches by enhancing how its property listings appear on Google Maps.
“According to comScore, over 56 per cent of all internet searches on real estate and related terms are conducted on Google and their partner sites therefore it’s vital that Harcourts is at the forefront with Google’s new initiatives,” said Harcourts’ head of technology Jason Wills.
He said the home buyers that use the new feature will be able to find property listings by entering the city or suburb into the Google search engine.
Harcourts said its new initiative is different from similar programs through its use of grouping properties and allowing home buyers to browse properties using the street view format. “The ability to refine your search using the maps is also very powerful and avoids having to start your search from scratch,” Mr Wills said.
In addition, buyers can refine their search by adding in price limitations, number of bedrooms, type of property, among other search options, and the map updates automatically if the viewer pans to another suburb.
