The former president of the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA), David Airey, has been elected as the president of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA) for a term of two years.

According to a statement from REIWA, the election came as a result of the retirement of outgoing president, Alan Bourke.

Mr Bourke had completed his two year tenure as president.

“I have great faith in the long-term future of the housing market and in the skills of REIWA members when it comes to finding the right buyers and tenants for sellers and owners,” Mr Airey said.

Ian Cornell will serve as REIWA’s deputy president, while Mr Bourke, who is remaining on the REIWA council, will serve in his new role as chairman of the institute’s finance and risk management committee.

The REIWA said that all office bearer positions were elected by the institute’s governing council, which includes nine council members. The councillors are elected by the REIWA membership.
